When to book

When a deep clean makes sense

Before regular visits

Start from a clean baseline, so every visit after it keeps the home easy instead of catching up.

Spring cleaning

Northern Virginia springs bring a lot of pollen. A deep clean in April or May clears sills, vents and floors.

Before the holidays

Book a week or two before guests arrive for Thanksgiving or December, so the kitchen and bathrooms are ready.

Thanksgiving cleaning checklist

Before you list

Clean baseboards, cabinets and bathrooms look better in listing photos and at showings.

How to get ready

  • Pick up clothes, toys and papers so the time goes to cleaning
  • Clear the kitchen counters and the sink if you can
  • Keep anxious pets in a separate room
  • Add a door or lockbox code if you won't be home
  • Tell us your priorities in the booking notes

Not part of a deep clean

  • · Organizing, decluttering or putting away belongings
  • · Washing dishes or laundry
  • · Exterior windows, or anything that needs a tall ladder
  • · Moving heavy furniture or appliances
  • · Mold, pest waste, biohazards or construction dust

Questions

Deep cleaning questions

What's the difference between a deep clean and a standard clean?
A deep clean includes everything in a standard clean, plus hand-wiped baseboards and cabinet fronts, doors, frames and window sills, tile and grout detail, vents and blinds, and cleaning under and behind the furniture we can reach. It takes a lot longer, which is why it costs more.
Do I need a deep clean before recurring visits?
If your home hasn't had a professional cleaning in the last four weeks, the first visit of a recurring plan is a deep clean at the deep-clean price, shown before you book. After that, regular visits are priced as standard cleans.
How often should a home get a deep clean?
Most homes need one to start. With regular visits after that, many people add another deep clean once or twice a year, for example in spring or before the holidays.
Is the inside of the oven and fridge included?
Not in a deep clean. You can add the inside of the oven ($50), the fridge ($50) or kitchen cabinets ($60) to any visit. All three are included in a move-in / move-out clean.
Do you bring the supplies?
Yes. Cleaning supplies and equipment are included in the price.
Do you clean up after construction or mold?
No. Construction dust, mold, pest waste and biohazards need specialist services, so they aren't part of our cleans.
What if something is missed?
Tell us within 24 hours, with a photo if you can, and we'll come back to fix it at no charge.
Are you insured, and are your cleaners background-checked?
Yes. Lantern Home Cleaning is insured, and our cleaners are background-checked.
